TIROS Optics:
The XO's patent-pending TIROS™ (Total Internal Reflection Optical System) one-piece lens is the technology behind the XO's enhanced light delivery. Firing beams with rifle-like precision, the TIROS lens delivers more lumens per watt at a greater distance than comparably sized lens systems. At the heart of the TIROS optical system is a Total Internal Reflective (TIR) one-piece lens that captures and fires a light beam containing more lumens, farther, than any other in its size class. What you see

The XO beam is uniformly circular, with a well-defined hot spot and balanced peripheral pattern, so you get excellent visibility of the target object while still lighting the immediate surroundings.

The scientific view

A digital imaging photometer measures XO beam concentration, intensity and uniformity in 2D and 3D views. This precision instrument reveals XO beam quality with scientific accuracy. Ultimately, though, shining an XO on a wall alongside a comparably sized competing flashlight is the most convincing test of all.
